A clear answer from the Restart team — reviewed November 2026.
In June 2025 the Ministry of Health opened the Muscat Taafi (recovery) Centre in Al Amerat — a specialised government facility with 170 beds, working with the Ministry of Social Development and the Royal Oman Police — and moved the addiction services previously at Al Masarra Hospital there. In 2026 Al Salwa Hospital for addiction treatment opened in Sohar. For the legal procedures around voluntary treatment, contact the National Committee for Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances or the official authorities.
- Coming forward early is always better
- Confidentiality is the patient's right
- Check with the official authority
What does this mean for the family?
